Dr. Levita D'Souza

PGDip (Psych), DPsych(Counselling Psych).

Levita is a registered Counselling Psychologist. She is a member of the Centre for Perinatal Psychology. She has over 15 years of experience working overseas and in Australia, across public and private sectors.

Levita has always been interested in the impact of childhood experiences on the choices we make as adults.  Working overseas in orphanages and inpatient psychiatric units, gave her a glimpse into the importance of early parent (caregiver)-child attachments in the development of mental illness. Levita strongly believes that positive caregiving experiences in childhood can positively impact the child's developing brain and subsequently influence healthy development of cognitions, emotions and behaviour.

She is very passionate about working with children and their families. Levita strongly believes that parenting can be a journey of deep reflection and is an opportunity for personal growth. She strives to embody this value in her approach to life. She is also actively involved in research, teaching and supervision in her role as a lecturer.

More recently, Levita has completed training infant mental health. She is continually seeking to enhance her skills and knowledge to better assist clients.
